1 Cast iron skillet or teppan hot plate
1 Spatula for mixing on the skillet
1 Rice cooker or pot for steamed rice
- 2 cups Japanese rice cooked and fluffed
- 300 grams Ribeye beef thinly sliced
- 1/2 cup Sweet corn kernels canned or fresh
- 2 tbsp Butter divided
- 2 tbsp Soy sauce for sauce base
- 1 tbsp Garlic minced
- 1 tbsp Sugar optional for sweet touch
- 1 tsp Black pepper freshly ground
- 2 tbsp Green onions for garnish
Prepare the rice: Cook Japanese short-grain rice and keep it warm.
Make the sauce: In a bowl, mix soy sauce, garlic, sugar, and black pepper. Set aside.
Heat the skillet: Preheat a cast iron skillet on high until very hot.
Assemble the dish: Place the rice in the center of the skillet. Arrange beef slices around it, then top with corn, butter, and green onions.
Add sauce: Drizzle the sauce evenly over the beef and rice.
Sizzle and stir: Let it sizzle for 1–2 minutes, then stir everything together quickly using a spatula.
