Equipment

  • 1 Cast iron skillet or teppan hot plate

Ingredients

  • 2 cups Japanese rice cooked and fluffed
  • 300 grams Ribeye beef thinly sliced
  • 1/2 cup Sweet corn kernels canned or fresh
  • 2 tbsp Butter divided
  • 2 tbsp Soy sauce for sauce base
  • 1 tbsp Garlic minced
  • 1 tbsp Sugar optional for sweet touch
  • 1 tsp Black pepper freshly ground
  • 2 tbsp Green onions for garnish

Instructions

  • Prepare the rice: Cook Japanese short-grain rice and keep it warm.
  • Make the sauce: In a bowl, mix soy sauce, garlic, sugar, and black pepper. Set aside.
  • Heat the skillet: Preheat a cast iron skillet on high until very hot.
  • Assemble the dish: Place the rice in the center of the skillet. Arrange beef slices around it, then top with corn, butter, and green onions.
  • Add sauce: Drizzle the sauce evenly over the beef and rice.
  • Sizzle and stir: Let it sizzle for 1–2 minutes, then stir everything together quickly using a spatula.
  • Serve hot: Once everything is well mixed and beef is cooked through, serve immediately.
